Privacy Policy — QScanner

Last updated: July 2026

QScanner (“the app”) is a QR code and barcode scanner. It is designed to work on your device. We do not require an account, and we do not sell your personal data.

What stays on your device

Links are checked entirely on your device

What the app does send

To keep the app free we show ads through Google AdMob, and we use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand usage and fix crashes. Through these Google services the following data is collected:

Data type What it is Collected Shared with a third party
Approximate location Estimated from your IP address, at region level. The app has no location permission and never reads your device location. Yes Yes (AdMob)
App interactions Aggregate counts only — which code type was scanned or generated, which ad was tapped. Never the codes themselves. Yes Yes (AdMob)
Diagnostics Device metadata and performance information. Yes Yes (AdMob)
Device or other identifiers Advertising identifier, App Set ID, and installation identifiers used by Analytics and Crashlytics. Yes Yes (AdMob)
Crash logs Stack traces and app state at the moment of a crash. Yes No

All of this data is encrypted in transit using TLS.

How that data is shared

Purposes

The data above is used for analytics, for advertising and marketing, and for fraud prevention, security and compliance. Crash logs are used for analytics only.

What we do not do

Other apps and sites you open

Opening a link, sending an email, connecting to Wi-Fi, adding a contact, or opening a shop page hands that data to the app or website you chose, which has its own privacy practices. Pages you open in the app's built-in browser are ordinary web browsing; the sites you visit apply their own policies.

Data retention and deletion

Your history, notes, bookmarks and settings live only on your device, so uninstalling the app removes them. You can also delete any single item, or clear your whole history, from inside the app at any time.

Because we run no server of our own, we hold no copy of your data to delete. The data listed in the table above is held by Google as described in the Google Privacy Policy.
